FOND DU LAC — Valentine's Day is right around the corner, and Fond du Lac businesses have opportunities aplenty to help you celebrate with partners, friends and other loved ones.

From coffee and snacks to a four-course dinner, the area has a full day's worth of plans, complete with a singing telegram and a party and other activities to involve the kids.

Here are a few things to do around Fond du Lac for Valentine's Day.

Start the day with a love-themed latte

Many local cafes have included Valentine's Day themes to their specialty menus, featuring berry and chocolate themes.

Stone Oak Coffee Haus, 347 Winnebago Drive, offers the Cupids Crush — rose, chocolate and beetroot powder — and the raspberry and pistachio "My Nutty Valentine" on its menu, as well as the French Kiss Latte: a raspberry, white chocolate and toasted almond mocha.

The menu at Urban Fuel, N7645 N. Peebles Lane, includes the Love Potion Mocha with a blend of white chocolate and strawberry syrup.

Beans & Bites, 340 Prospect Ave., has a cherry cordial and a chocolate-covered strawberry drink, as well as the honey, vanilla and cinnamon-flavored "Bee" My Valentine, and the Love Potion: a vanilla cold brew with strawberry cold foam.

Drop in or pick up some pre-ordered snacks and treats

CC's Chocolates Cafe, 57 N. Macy St., has packaged its specialty confectionaries into chocolate boxes for Valentine's Day, available to pick up in-store or via the drive-thru.

Additionally, the cafe is hosting a Valentine's Giveaway raffle through Feb. 10 for a chance to win one of three prizes, including the grand prize of a $50 gift certificate. Each purchase at CC's is an entry, with one entry per day. Winners will be announced on the Facebook page Feb. 11.

Mix It Up Bakery, 64 N. Main St., has been taking orders for cupcake bouquets and stocking Valentine’s Day confetti cupcakes alongside its array of cookies, cakes, donuts and other treats. Preorders are also open for Paczki until Feb. 10 for Fat Tuesday pickup on Feb. 13.

Faris Gourmet Popcorn, 770 W. Scott St., has its Lovestruck Collection available, including popcorn mixes Cherry Kettle, Strawberry Cheesecake, Valentine's Mix and the chocolate-drizzled cherry and strawberry Cupid's Crunch.

The Lovestruck Heart "Cake" is also back, featuring the cherry, strawberry and chocolate Heartbreaker mix encased in a chocolate shell with an included hammer to break it open. Orders are $30 and available on its website, farispopcorn.com/valentine.

Beans & Bites has extra-large heart-shaped cookies available for pre-order for $7.50, as well as mini charcuterie boxes for $10. Orders are available by messaging the cafe's Facebook page or by calling 920-238-9293 for Feb. 13 or 14 pickup.

Serenade a sweetie with the St. Mary's Springs choir

St. Mary's Springs Academy's high school music department is offering singing telegrams for Valentine's Day this year.

A group of music students will come to a business, home or restaurant in formal attire with a personalized card and rose, and will sing two songs in three-part harmony. Song examples include "Love Me Tender" by Elvis Presley, “Save the Last Dance for Me” by The Drifters and "Ain't She Sweet" byMilton Ager andJack Yellen, made famous by The Beatles.

Telegrams are $35 and can be set up through the school's website, smsacademy.org/telegram. A video option is also available, and orders and payment are due by Feb. 13.

Make a dinner reservation at a local restaurant

Table One in the Hotel Retlaw, 1 N. Main St., is accepting reservations for its Valentine's Dinner service every evening Feb. 14 through 17.

The four-course meal includes a choice of lobster bisque with white truffle oil or tomato basil soup with pesto and wild rice for soup; and roasted beet salad with LaClare Goat Cheese and fresh figs or the Farm Fresh Salad with mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, carrots and onions for salad.

The entrée has three options: seared seabass fillet with saffron broth, shaved fennel, sumac and grilled asparagus; seared scallops and charbroiled pork belly with butternut squash puree and grilled broccolini; or petite venison steak with red wine shallots, red currant and fingerling potatoes.

Dessert is a choice of candied pistachio creme brulee or chocolate mousse with fresh berries and amaretto sabayon sauce.

Diners can add a bottle of champagne or wine to their meal and get $5 off the bottle.

The service will be 5 to 9 p.m. for $55 per person. Reservations are required by calling 920-204-0400 or visiting the opentable.com listing linked on the Hotel Retlaw Facebook page.

End the night on Valentine's Day week with a couple's skate

At Korneli's on the Avenue, 605 Fond du Lac Ave., Wednesday nights are for cornhole with the weekly bags tournament, but if you're looking for a skate date night, Feb. 15 is an adult open skate night, featuring snacks, pizzas, a full bar and entertainment from Brent Bel.

Open skate is 6 to 10 p.m. Admission is $7, with skate rentals available for $3.

Regular open skate hours throughout the month are 4 to 10 p.m. Fridays and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.

Think ahead with a bundle gift from local businesses

Lunar & Lake Book Market, 74 S. Main St., is teaming up with local businesses for a special Valentine's Day blind date with a book bundle.

In addition to the store's regular bundle featuring a book from a chosen genre and bookish goodies, customers can add chocolates from CC's Chocolates, a succulent from Arbor Acres or both.

Can't get a babysitter? Here are some family-friendly events

Play cafe Wonder, 15 N. Main St., will host a Valentine's Day Party starting at 10 a.m. Feb. 14 with valentine storytime, candy heart bingo, cookie decorating, a valentine scavenger hunt, valentine sensory bins and 30 minutes of open play included in admission.

Tickets are $15, required only for children, and are available at wonderfdl.com.

Prior to Valentine's Day, Wonder will also have a valentine-making station Feb. 11, included with the open play sessions.

The Fond du Lac Public Library's monthly Crafty Kids falls on Valentine's Day, so the craft of the day will be a paper heart tree. Crafty Kids runs 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the McLane Meeting Room at the main branch, 32 Sheboygan St., and is recommended for children age 4 and older.

Feb. 9, The Cellar District, 40 E. Division St., will host a Valentine's Edition of Family Movie Night, featuring the movie "Gnomeo & Juliet" at 7 p.m.

The restaurant will have snacks and drinks, so all that's needed is pillows and blankets for the kids. Tickets are $5 each, reserved on exploretock.com, which is linked on the Cellar District Facebook page.
